This is a self portrait at Mount Kyaiktiyo, site of Golden Rock, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Burmese Buddhism.
We climbed the peak in late afternoon for sunset, and stayed there over night for the sunrise. Like all the Buddhist sites we visited in Burma, you have to be barefoot, so wandering around across rock and marble first thing in the morning, at an altitude of just over 1000 meters gives you pretty cold feet.
The golden rock behind me isn't THE Golden Rock, which is a few hundred meters further along the ridge. This is a smaller shrine in the temple complex.
