Val d'Orcia by AndyMumford Val d'Orcia by AndyMumford
The Photo

Another shot from the iconic valley in southern Tuscany. This is a stitch of 3 horizontal images, about 10000 pixels wide altogether.

I did quite a few telephoto shots of the valley in the session, you can see the trees from this image on the extreme right, and the church from this image and this image but I wanted to capture a vista of the entire valley.
It was an amazing morning, one that I'll never forget as I'd wanted to photograph this valley for a couple of years, and the mist did exactly what I hoped it would do.
An incredible morning in an incredible location, and one that I know I'll never forget .

Apologies for uploading it so large. DA's submission rules insist that each image must be at least 400 pixels along it's shortest edge, which doesn't really work in the case of panos....but I'm sure the people who came up with that rule knew what they were talking about...

Lovely photo and composition. I like how the trees on the hilltops sort of drags the eye further in.

Very well done. :)

Now one of my favorites! Love it.

Why is the right side sort of greyish? like, not much contrast, or the white seems off.

Dunno about the colour, I've recently changed monitors (this image was done on my old one) and although I've calibrated both, images still look a little different on both...and I'm not sure which to trust with images I've changed the WB a little on this now and uploaded it again.

If DeviantART were to be filled with tasteful lovers of photographic art, we'd see more images like this with 1,000+ favs, and saturated sunsets and contrast cats would never realize 100 favs.

Yeah mate, it's no coincidence that I only submitted this AFTER I got a large monitor too. It only really makes sense if you can see it all in one go at reasonable size

I often say this about your photos, but this honestly looks like a painting! Remarkable! Gorgeous colors, a sentimental feeling evoked by it, and a lovely landscape.

Great panorama Andy, but I must admit I like your other shots more. The atmosphere is wonderful, but because the main points of interest are placed so tight against the edges of the frame they tend to fade off against the great mass of hills.

Thanks. This actually works much better as a large print than it does on a small monitor. Your eye moves more naturally across it that way, but I appreciate your point

Agree. Yesterday I viewed the image once again on a higher resolution screen so I didn't had to scroll horizontally to view the entire image. And it works indeed quite good. Give the print a nice place in your house.

I think that if it was smaller we wouldn't be able to fully admire the beauty of the scene! Great capture Andy, I'm beginning to think you know of a way to travel to different dimensions and take photos! This cannot be Earth! =p

Wow! :wow: This picture is stunning! Really amazing! :)

I live near there so I have the chance to see these kind of landscape quite often but for some unknown reason I never get used to their beauty.
The beauty of that place is that everytime you go there it's different than the time before to me it's magical.

I went there few times before sunrise to take picture and believe me when the sun start to rise and it lights all the golden cornfield in summer that is magic.
