Time And Tide by AndyMumford Time And Tide by AndyMumford
Another shot from an evening on the western coast of Algarve last month.

The sky and light were lovely, the tide and light were receding from the long, flat beach of Castelejo, and to capture shots like this I was waiting for waves to come up the beach, then as they receded, running after them and setting up the tripod and camera before the next wave came in.
As the waves rolled back up the beach, I tripped the shutter, waited for the exposure to finish and quickly lifted the camera and tripod up and out of the water before the waves came over it.

I got very wet. It was a lot of fun :-)

A shot from later the same evening:

Thanks so much. I have two weeks off work around Christmas, so hopefully I'll get some shooting done in the south of Portugal then, and right now I'm putting a trip to Morocco together for next April. Driving down to shoot the towns of Chefchaouen and Fez, and spending 3 days in the dunes at the edge of the Sahara. Should be fun :-)

Thats absolutely gr8. Where are you going in Portugal?

Morocco sounds amazing. I hope you can pule off some desert photo's, give's a nice contrast with all the long water exposures you have in your gallery.
Anyway, looking forward to the shot's from your trip Andy:)

Cheers

I like this more than the other shot. More things going on. Great effort mate. Never shot seas with so much force in them. when we visit it will be a whole new experience

Yeah, it was a lot of fun, and the Atlantic is still suprisingly warm at this time of year. :-)

How long? Literally? A third of a second.
How long was the session? About an hour, and to get this particular shot...I spent about 10 minutes running up and down the beach, took maybe 7 frames before I got the one I liked.

Thanks a lot, glad you like it

Lol, yeah. Fortunately the Atlantic is still pretty warm at this time of year, so it's not too uncomfortable doing this....but come March....
