Ah, its been a while since I submitted a pier shot
The Photo
Took this last weekend on one of my first trips out shooting landscapes after a summer where Ive only done street and wedding photography. The clouds have returned to Portugal and its nice to be back out in the fresh air beneath a big sky again.
This is a location I found on Google Earth a while back and had been waiting for a decent looking sky to go and shoot it. Its about 100 kilometers from my house, and quite a way off the beaten track. I doubt Id have managed to get there without a GPS, as once you turn off the main road, you head through fields of cork trees before finally turning onto a dirt track and driving through about 5 kilometers of paddy fields. Of course paddy fields plus river bank equals mosquito heaven, and I can honestly say I was eaten alive during this shoot, despite the fact that I was using repellent. I also lost my polarizer somewhere in the bushes along the waters edge when I went to shoot an alternative composition at the side of the pier.
I guess its note worthy that this is a pier shot thats NOT a long exposure. I almost always shoot long exposures when doing shots like this, and indeed I did again on this particular evening, but comparing the shots back on my computer at home, I preferred the definition in the clouds.

Thanks in advance for any comments or faves. Sadly, I no longer have time to reply to individual comments, but I do appreciate people taking the time to look. Any questions, please note me.
Damn, I thought I was the first to fav it! Let see if by the time I finish this I'm the first to comment. Sorry about the polarizer Andy but it was a small loss compared to this! The sky is amazing and the composition perfect once again!

I met in the street a very poor young man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat worn, his cloak was out at the elbows, the water passed through his shoes, - and the stars through his soul.
Upon first look, the off centre pier bothered me, but a more overall look made the left front pole balance it. Great stuff. Excellent colour and exposure

This feature was brought together by my watchers and hours of browsing galleries for inspiring pieces that have gone unnoticed. Here are the results, one hundred beautiful photographs with under one hundred favorites. Let's give these artists the attention they deserve <3
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
