The Photo
Of all the photos I took in Umbria, and of the various ones I took in this location on different evenings, this is my favourite shot.
Its less dramatic than the others, less colourful, but for a couple of reasons, I like this more than Sibilini or Godspeed.
It had rained most of the day, and we drove up to this high plain more in hope than in expectation. The rainclouds stubbornly refused to clear, never letting through a crack of sunlight, but around sunset, it did finally let off raining and I decided to see if I could get some shots.
This was taken around 15 minutes after the (invisible) sun had set, and the wind was pushing the clouds across the plain at quite a speed.
The following evening I returned and got the light and colour I had hoped for, but after editing all the images from the trip, this is the one that I kept coming back to, and as I said above, became my favourite from Umbria.
This is a long exposure, with a 2 stop neutral density filter to balance the top half of the picture with it's reflection
