The Photo

Another shot from Capella di Vitaleta in Tuscany. Re-discovered when going over through my hard-drive looking for shots that I'd not been satisfied with when using Aperture as my RAW converter.
I ran this through Nikon Capture NX2 and was immediately happier with it.

Taken shortly before dawn of one of the most photographed chapels in Italy...although this place is usually shot at sunset, not sunrise. The mist was just clearing from around the hill, giving me a clear shot of the chapel beneath the sunrise colours of the sky.

I metered from the green of the field and used a 3 stop nd grad filter to control the highlights of the sky. I know someone's going to tell me I should have cropped some of the sky out, but I shot it and left it that way deliberately :-)
