One of the first of many images I took at Bagan around dawn.
We'd arrived in Bagan after dark on the previous evening, and the following morning it was still dark as we made our way to a temple before dawn, climbed up the steep stairs, and waited for it to get light.
I'd seen lots of pictures of Bagan before I went there, but nothing can really prepare you for what an incredible place it is. Our first view of it was this morning as the sun came up, and 3 hours flashed by as I photographed it.
I've spent a fair amount of time this last week editing shots and stitching panoramas of what was probably the most amazing sunrise I've ever seen.
This shot was taken before the sun rose as the mist still lay thick across the plain. The temple you can see is the thousand year old Ananda Paya, a couple of kilometers away from where we were standing.
